Intarsia Patterns
|
What is Intarsia?Intarsia is the fine art of cutting numerous pieces of different kinds of wood on a scrollsaw, and fitting them together to make a picture. Intarsia is sometimes referred to as wood art. You use the colour, texture and grain of the various types of wood to add excitement to your work. Sort of like a wood puzzle. In its most sophisticated form each piece of wood is carved to an appropriate shape and thickness, based on what it is suppose to represent. The finished piece can be stand alone artwork, ... added around a picture frame or mirror, or shrunk in size and applied as a decorative component to wooden clocks and boxes. A number of our customers, even applied them to the back of nicnac shelves and mug racks, or used them as a quilt appliqué. Only your imagination limits the applications. to the first page of intarsia patterns--> If you have never done this type of woodworking, pay a visit to our intarsia basics page.We have a lot of free information on how to do this type of woodworking, from choosing the wood, to transferring the pattern and ultimately cutting out the wood pieces, We've been having fun in the design department.
